You've seen the video, read the facts, now tell the Governor where you stand.

Dear Governor Strickland,

Please help create stronger local economies, and a safer, healthier, cleaner, and more humane Ohio for all of our citizens and our children, by enacting a permanent ban on the construction of new animal factory farms in Ohio.

I am horrified by the cruelty and neglect animals suffer on factory farms. On factory farms, animals are mutilated without painkillers, confined in overcrowded, filthy conditions, left to languish untreated with diseases and injuries, and roughly handled by workers.

In addition to causing animal cruelty, these mega animal farms siphon money away from the rural communities where they are based; lower neighbors' property values; harm the health of nearby residents; pollute the air, water, and land; waste vast resources and contribute to global warming.

A good example of a facility in Ohio that must not be built is the 6 million chicken battery cage egg facility proposed to be built at 22450 Davis Rd in West Mansfield by the Iowa-based Hi-Q Egg Products company. Local residents and farmers are protesting the creation of this facility out of concerns regarding how it will negatively impact their health, ground water, streams, air, soil, property values and roads.

Please place a permanent moratorium for permitting or constructing new factory farms in Ohio.
