How many other Ohio Communities will create War on Terror Monuments BEFORE the war is over?
Readers, this is not about the Iraq War nor is it about the Afghanistan War, I'm talking about the War on Terror as defined by those who promote and benefit from it, and that is not only TERRORIST.
In our military families eyes every War Profiteer (including politicians of both parties, the Defense Industry, and vultures (not Eagles-Vultures) picking over the (green bones) of War Profits.
If your community is passionate about creating monuments to Soldiers who have yet to return from their war by all means contact your local Tombstone dealer, funeral director, or cemetery, and get started BEFORE the war in over. GET ON THE BAND WAGON.
You many even find one or two combat troops (above the rank of SGT) willing to go along with the program when they are not THINKING about the exploitation and message they are sending, that will come later when their war is really over, and really warrants any monument.
Folks, it is a given that Funeral Corporations, Tombstone dealers, and yes even cemeteries are going to get on the war profit band wagon, they are among the only winners in WAR. They've been profiting off of war way before embalming wagons followed Union and Confederate forces on battle fields across civil war Americana. They have already profited off over what near 4500 young American troops. Do we really have to allow them to profit more than needed or necessary. Screw this, I'm getting cremated and someone, even if it is only some lawyer, hopefully will ensure my dust and bones gets placed in the Crematoria areas of Arlington National Cemetery.
Why am I the only one who seems to be frustrated by this and sees something morally wrong in having parades or building monuments to troops STILL fighting their war? Because my fellow Americans that is what the Nazi propaganda machine did at the Nuremberg Rallies and Demonstrations to show the Third Reich's military prowess, even as Germany was losing the war on both fronts.
No, I'm not comparing our troops or our war effort to Nazi Germany, but I am comparing our political propaganda efforts beyond a doubt BECAUSE WHAT PEOPLE, POLITICIANS, AND YES TOMBSTONE DEALERS are doing is WRONG!
Praise the Lord, by all means build a Veterans Memorial to our Iraq and Afghanistan troops in every city, county, state, and National Park across America - WHEN OUR TROOPS COME HOME.
Why the urgent rust to DO IT NOW??? That is why this Veteran and Army Dad refuses to see any monument to my Soldier established before he/she comes HOME TO STAY.

THINK HARD ABOUT THIS - WHY DID THIS GESTURE INCLUDING PHOTOS OF THE MONUMENT MAKE IT'S WAY INTO NO LOCAL MEDIA OUTLET, TV, OR NEWS PRINT??? It most likely will be after the fact, or after someone who disagrees with me reads something like this.
Veterans memorial statue to be unveiled
The soldier statue for the second phase of the Beavercreek Veterans Memorial [was] unveiled July 4 at the memorial site on North Fairfield Road.
In attendance and participating in the ceremony will be the two National Guard soldiers who posed for the statue, SFC John Frobach and SSG Joshua Swan. Also participating will be representatives from American Legion Post 763, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1812, Chris Papakirk of Ameritech, Dodds [Cemetery] Monuments president Eric Fogerty and members of the Veterans Memorial Committee board of directors [not one of which is either an Iraq War or Afghanistan War Veteran].
"The landscaping will not be completed, but the important thing is that the dedication is made to our members of the armed forces," Veterans Memorial Committee president Marc Marderosian said. "We owe it to all members of the armed services to tell them that we care for their devotion and dedication to protect us to assure the freedom we enjoy."
Note: Republican Marc Marderosian was also the WWII Veteran, Legion and VFW member, honored for his service during WWII, Korea, and Vietnam (Marc was in the Army-Air Force, Navy, and Air Force) by being Grand Marshall at this past 4th of July parade that was rained on. Yes, God does have a sense of humor.
Frankly, even I honor Marc Mardersosian for being well, almost like me, except old enough to be my father and most Iraq War Veteran's Grand Father. What I question is not Marc's service, but his motivation in doing such a shameful thing for political reasons that have nothing to do with our troops except as a partisan sideshow. If they'd at least selected a more expensive sculpture or statue artist who's claim to fame was not memorials for cemeteries, I could almost buy this.
Just because they got two senior NCOs (E6 & E7) in the National Guard to go along with this circus DOES NOT MAKE IT RIGHT. I'm sure NEOCONS can find any number of senior NCOs or officers for that matter willing to go along with propaganda. THAT DOESN'T MAKE WHAT HE AND THEY ARE DOING ANY LESS WRONG, EVEN IF "FATHER FORGIVE THEM THEY KNOW NOT WHAT THEY DO." Major Hanafin
Parking will be available at the Church of the Nazarene lot [that at least has no cemetery to exploit] across the street from the site and at the medical facilities just north and adjacent to the site.

PS: Anyone making the time to read this rant, well, genuine concern of a Veteran of two wars and father of a soldier in this one. If you disagree with where I'm coming from by all means send me your comments. I promise to not flame you, even if the forum allowed it.
I just may be wrong myself about this, so convince me, I'll listen. Maybe there is nothing wrong with promoting war memorials to our troops NOW even before their ultimate fate has been decided. It sort of well FUNNY. Like the Mission Accomplished banner on an aircraft carrier. Dah, what the President meant to say was, "Invasion of Iraq Accomplished, we have still to subdue Iraq, or spread Democracy throughout Iraq, or whatever it is we are suppose to do next week."
I've written before my opinions, and others in silence share them of this I'm assured or the 2008 election would not be so squirrelly.
To the True Majority, those of you who remain in silence are worse than those who commit the CRIMES. YOU ARE COLLABORATORS IN CRIME. At least we know from where the hammer falls with those who disagree with us vocally, on paper, or on-line. Those of you who remain silent are but serpents in the Garden of Eden.
