Subtitle: "Celebrating our pride in God, country and troops." (April Fools Day in July)
Those in our area of S.W. Ohio who question, let alone oppose the Iraq War, decided to sit this 4th of July out and well, go shopping, play golf, or hold our own parades IN PRIVATE (only kidding). Well, we did plan on our own fireworks display with a CRUSADER theme, but decided the timing wasn't RIGHT or LEFT.
Seriously, if you want to locate and rate your own personal hometown propaganda rag, check out Mondo Times and International Media Rating Service that request readers rate media outlets according to political bias, credibility, and so on. So it you are a conservative living in a liberal dominated area of Ohio or a liberal living in a conservative area of Ohio or BOTH, this is your opportunity to get even with YOU NEARBY FRIENDLY PROPAGANDA RAG.

The Independent Day connection and my response editorial are within the text below. The Republinazis have stooped to an all time LOW. They are going to try SHAMING us as UN-AMERICAN for not supporting THEIR PRESIDENT and THEIR COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF, by asking us not to make Independence Day a political observance, because it is SHAMEFUL to do so.
After you read what they, and I have to say about SHAME, let me know if you are AHSAMED of yourself for doing the things our neighborhood propaganga rag suggests are UNPATRIOTIC.
Folks, we've been down this road before, and it is only going to get worse closer we get to November 2008, and especially if Obama WINS, than the right-wing radicalism could go the way of Timothy McVeigh - duck and cover. Keep in mind that one cannot think of Timothy McVeigh without thinking about his ties with elements that would eventually become the Minuteman Militia that patrols our SW border.

The content of this local hometown newspaper leans so far right it would almost be laughable if it were not so obvious. The content is about average to poor for any small to mid town Republican newspaper, but it is adequate for neo-conservative belief systems.
The credibility level goes along with the right-wing political bias of the Beavercreek News Current (well really 19th or 20th century quality paper, especially one in either the North or South during the American Civil War, and reflects such extremism).
The real JOKE is that this propaganda rag is so questionable and politically biased that not only is it very OBVIOUS to even dummies, they have to give the paper away to folks in the town who can THINK for themselves. I mean no kidding FREE!
The really funny thing is that they are not just some fly by night neo-conservative or even neo-liberal (I mean liberal not neoliberal) You know what I mean. The Beavercreek Propaganda Rag is part of a Miaimi Valley Regional Giant Times Newspapers (Oh, I get it TIMES as in the Good Old Days). Can you seriously believe ANY media outlet is giving its hard copy paper away FREE in door to door service. These people must have money to burn, SUVs to spare, and pick-up trucks that hold extra large tanks of gas. Guess FREE NEWSPAPERS are in hope that everyone will read it and take it like well, Jim Jones Cool Aid.
Example: We are going into the 4th of July weekend and in this Air Force town, run by former or current base civilian employees, every, not one or two and no pretense to balanced reporting, but every Editorial on the editorial page was not only PRO-WAR, but went out of it's way to question anyone's patriotism who does not exploit our troops and military families for political gain or to silence dissent. Here are the four title articles ranked by Patriotic Zeal, and I do mean ZEAL as in fanatical Nationalist:
1. Kids deserve chance to learn from losing. [Don't tell our troops THAT!] This article one would think was about the lessons children, and young adults take away from the adage: "It is not whether you win or lose, but how you play the game." WRONG. Remember this article was selected specifically for it's application to July the 4th and by inference the Iraq War. The writer goes from the positive lessons of good sportsmanship into closing with, "It's not whether you get knocked down; its whether you get up." The lesson this paper wants to teach is that kids need to learn the glory of winning be it wars, football, or baseball games, and hardship of defeat. That's fine, but to publish such crapola going into Independence Day is like viewing WAR as a sports event.
2. It get's worse, Thank You for the Flags. I prefer not to comment, but this has something to do with an Amendment to the Constitution to protect the American Flag from everyone except the American Legion and VFW who hack them in retail sales in order to make up for lowering membership or dues that do not cover the right-wing politicians they support.
3. This one's been around a while, and is a favorite of the dwindling WWII population, yes they are living longer. Red Skelton's Pledging Allegiance to One Nation Under God!. This one ends with a comment about "under god" being added to the Pledge of Allegiance since Skelton who failed to out live those now quoting him, first said it wayyyy back before even back in the day. To ensure their readers know that the Beavercreek Propaganda Rag is just that, the editorial ends with: "Wouldn't it be a pity if someone said, "That's a prayer" and that would be eliminated from schools, too?"
With what, nearing 5,000 U.S. Constitution Oath takers (and counting) fallen in Iraqnam, couldn't we at least have an Independent Day that also is not turned into yet another Holy Christian Crusade we cannot possibly win EVEN IF WE HAD THE DRAFT!!!
3. Last but not least [I saved the funniest for last] is this tidbit that is more appropriate for April Fools Day, "Celebrating our pride in God, country and troops." Frankly, I use to drink the cool aid, I use to lean right, but when I read something as obviously one sided as this, it is way past time to pass on the cool aid.
After getting bogged down with how glorious and victorious WWII was (gag) the writer goes off on an everyone is un-American tangent that would make anyone capable of thinking for themselves have bowel movements, and I quote,
"Any and all wars have protagonists, supporters, and those who denounce our country's involvement. Today isn't about our different opinions. (FINGERS CROSSED/WINK!} It isn't about agreeing or disagreeing with the politicies or politics of our military or commander-in-chief (Yep, we know where this is obviously going, well some of us anyway! Not only that it is starting to sound like the sports lesson above, like we are being talked down to)
Today is a day of honor. Singing songs [of glory and valor] that praise the men and women who work and fight for our country. Buying a beer at the VFW for the old timers with battle scars still shining in their worn faces. (Battle scars DO NOT shine folks, if you are or were a combat Vet or medic, you'd know that. And do not even get me started on VFW and Legion Clubs, Bars, and Bingos. These guys (and a few gals) need to get on Stop Smoking and Stop Drinking Programs of some kind. Any younger Vet who DOES NOT SMOKE nor drinks except to self medicate themselves while being convinced by their Commander-In-Chiefs chronies, even within the VFW and Legion, that PTSD is only for sissies.
"Today is for embracing a young mother whose husband just shipped out, keeping her and her family in your prayers (except if she questions her husbands fourth or fifth deployment, then move onto some young mother who like US supports OUR PRESIDENT).
Today is also a day of sadness (that is about the smartest, well only smart thing this writer had to say). Within this reading audience there are families still hurting [because of sons, brothers, or cousins they lost during Vietnam, [sad by true over 30 years hurting and festering is A LONG TIME, are we ready for another 30 years, because it is coming, because those that blindly support their commander-in-chief now will pay for it in the LONG RUN!
Well folks do you feel guilty enough yet for not supporting their President, their Commander-In-Chief, and their vision of our Armed Forces should be, one that is an OFFENSIVE and AGGRESSIVE force. That alone scares me, and is the main reason we need to bring back THE DRAFT. Take it from a former near fascist, LIBERALS do not want an Armed Force defending your interests composed of LITTLE TO NO LIBERALS!!!
If this is your vison of America, then by all means move to Beavercreek, Ohio. I will sell you my house - CHEAP, especially if you are an ethnic minority. Nope, I couldn't do that to you, unless you were a minority Republican or ethnic minority member who wants to draft Condi Rice for VP in 2008. (Only kidding, I'm mixed race, so I can!)
In sum, the NEOCONs are going to make every patriotic observance from now until November, and even throw in Veterans Day AFTER Obama or Ron Paul wins to make it THEIR NATIONALISTIC OBSERVANCE. If you can think for yourself, I know there is a few of you out there. Check it out; there is a vast crevasse between Patriotism and Nationalism. One can patriotically love their country, their constitution, their freedoms, and still say with confidence - MY GOVERNMENT AND THE IMMORAL MINORITY ARE WRONG!!!
I did not put the worse part in the above commentary. Major Hanafin

I saved the worse for last, the most damning evidence of just how vicious this political race is going to get. In fact, 2004 was ethical and moral compared to what this is going to be. 2004 was a dryrun for 2008 (WINK).
“Realizing this is an enormous political year, let’s not mix our politics, our opinions, or our negative feelings, with our courageous men and women currently engaged in combat, or serving in other areas around the globe. Let us never repeat the horrible reception given to those veterans of the Vietnam era. We owe apologies for the behavior of those who may have long ago been misguided and attacked our returning G.I.s We own thanks to our troops now and from yesteryear.” [Now, that's the Independence Day Spirit, if you were among the vast majority of Americans who opposed Vietnam, given your still alive, YOU WERE MISGUIDED, EVEN IF YOU SERVED IN VIETNAM!!!]
Note: Nothing is mentioned about the troops of the Vietnam Era having no more say in political decisions made continents away than troops do now, if at least that had been mentioned, I could ALMOST believe this was not ultra right-wing propaganda.
Are we supposed to be proud that U.S. National Guard members (also Vietnam Era Veterans even if they were mostly rich or well connected boys who got out of the draft and/or combat in Vietnam sound familiar) were called out by governors (George Wallace of Alabama comes to mind), and onto college campuses to put down both civil rights and student riots or so they were called with overwhelming shock and awe.
I for one preferred to volunteer to go to Vietnam and kill foreigners instead of having the honor and glory of busting some AMERICAN college student, or an AMERICAN black man, women, or child’s head.
Put another way, if I had to go to war and harm anyone, I would have preferred it not be other Americans. How many former National Guard members in your area who survived the inner-city and college campus combat is bragging about such service, even within ultra right-wing areas? I can’t count any in our area on one hand. Even they know that they were an oppression force, some regret it, and some would like to do it again.
The right-wing Beavercreek writer posing as a non-partisan goes onto say, “Take great pride in our country. Do not condone anyone who verbally assaults our leaders now or in the future. We are the United States of America. [that of course is the United We Stand talkiing point!] The man of woman in the Oval office is my president [speak for yourself then] I refuse to give other nations ugly rhetoric about my president, no matter which party I vote. [It was about this time that my wife and I had to get up on high chairs the BS was getting so deep. Not only deep, but a deaf, mute, and blind Democrat could see what’s coming if they were right of center or not.].
[Come on now, you are going to convince us that the same fanatical passion would exist if Bill Clinton, John Kerry, Hilary Clinton, Barrack Obama, or Ron Paul were President now and the nation was heading in the same direction. Would it not be those who worship the Clinton’s, Kerry’s, Obama, or Paul that would be writing the same defensive crapola? Well, maybe not. The point is that no right-wing, religious zealot is going to stand by any politician except their own kind. ]
The bottom line is folks that in the process of seeking change, the Democrat Parties by-word for the 2008 election, not only are YOU going to get this BS from the Limbaugh’s of the world but every small town right of center, nationalist rag in the nation. Question is do you have the backbone to make THEM back down?
I'm sorry but feedback I get recently is that Democrats still live in this dream world that denies politics is going to be an even dirtier game than it was in any previous election. Believe me, I’m all for CHANGE, but if the folks in the DNC, and Obama campaign go into this hail of fire with only honesty and integrity as shields, I seriously believe that either Ron Paul or John McCain will be President come 2008, and then the real no crapola dissent begins on a national scale. However, the National Guard needed to put it down will have been way past EXHAUSTION.
