Payday Lenders "Get Out"
Should we allow payday lenders to bully and lie to people? That is what they are doing in their campaign. If they really told people what they are doing, no one in their right mind would sign their petition. Since they have preyed off of the poor and desperate, they obviously have no scruples. Let's face it, they want to continue to make a fortune of money off of getting and keeping people in the hole. They have not tried to figure a better means of lending money that would actually help people. So they are going to spend their money lying to people. Put an end to it.

Are we talking about payday lenders? Sounds a lot like banks, mortgage lenders, credit card companies!

The banks, mortgage companies, and credit cards are trying to repeal the law that overturns usury 391% APR interest rates so they can raise their rates to this amount?

NO, only the payday lenders funded by out of state money are attempting to do that.

To stop predatory payday lending in Ohio, vote yes on issue 5! The payday lobby is going to do their best to confuse people, but if you think 391% interest is way, way too high...VOTE YES on ISSUE 5!

Payday lenders only ones who benefit

User from Columbus – a good point. Payday lenders are completely without scruples and they don’t even try to hide it. They charge what should be – and hopefully will be – criminal interest rates.

Not only that, but how many payday shops can you find in low income neighborhoods? They target people who are struggling and in the end, the only ones who truly benefit are the guys who own the payday chains.

Don’t be fooled when they claim to simply offer a “choice” to struggling families: they’re looking out for someone, all right, but it’s not the people who need help.

Ohioans need protection from payday lenders – Vote Yes on Issue 5

Oh no, they are not the only ones who are benefiting. Chris Wildner is talking up his sponsorship of the bill in his run for the State Senate. So all of you anti-payday lenders have done a great job helping preserve a Republican held Senate! So now real progessive reforms and real progress can be delayed for another two years. Thanks!!!!

You know what! Chris Widener's opponent, if they voted for House Bill 545, should be just as able to credit for payday lending reform. I'd suggest that they talk up their vote for the bill. If his opponent didn't support the legislation, then that was his or her oversight and misguided decision.

Hopefully this won't get to the ballot - too many voters were duped into signing the petitions under false pretenses and we can't allow the payday lenders to hijack our election process!
