Post from Lee Kamps's Blog:
Idiocy in Columbus

Just when I think that sanity has returned to state government in Ohio; the Christian right has reared its ugly head and decided to target strip clubs with this idiotic piece of legislation. No one is forced to patronize a strip club. If a community doesn't want such establishments in their neighborhood, they could always zone them out. No one is forced to work in a strip club, they can leave anytime. So why are those Bible thumpers trying to drive out such businesses and impose their brand of morality on everyone else?

Those Ohio senators that voted for this bill should be ashamed of themselves. They allowed themselves to be distracted from the really serious issues facing Ohio: education, jobs leaving the state and health care by what is a non issue. Should this idiotic piece of legislation reach the governor's desk, I hope that Ted Strickland has the courage and good sense to veto it.

Should this become law, it would be a boom for those cities and villages on the border of Ohio since all one would need is to cross into Pennsylvania, Michigan, West Virginia, Kentucky or Indiana to have what is denied them in Ohio. It is just what Ohio residents are now doing with casinos in neighboring states: spending their money outside Ohio, helping the economies in those states and cities and taking their money out of Ohio. Because of the actions of those idiots we call state legislators, Ohio is rapidly becoming a national laughing stock.

I urge every Ohio resident with any kind of sense to contact their state legislator and urge them to defeat this bill and to contact governor Strickland and urge him to veto it should it reach his desk. I also urge those Ohioans with intelligence to write their local newspapers and let them know that this legislation is not only idiotic, but distracts them from the real problems confronting the state that are far more serious.

Theocons are gonna regret it

This kind of using government to moralize will back-fire on the TheoCons. Alot of people are going to change the way they vote because of Phil Burress and his crowd.

Who asked for this law?

I heard on some Air America podcast that Local authorities already have the right to deny these businesses a license/zoning. Apparently, no one is asking for this legislation, except the "legislate morality" crowd.

I swear, between Boehner, Ney, and Blackwell, people across the nation have got to be saying, "What the heck is wrong with Ohio?"

Do you have a link for this? It seems like you were referencing one ("this idiotic piece of legislation"), but nothing showed up in your post.
