Post from jm korbel's Blog:
RESEARCH THE ISSUES BEFORE YOU VOTE
I recently decided to check out Obama's website. I was surprised to find my first google search referred me to an Obama website where I had to supply my contact information before I could open any pages. After I did so, the next page that appeared was only for making campaign contributions. Finally, I went back to google and found a lower-listed Obama website for actual information.

When I looked for the issues section, what I mainly found where speech quotes and brief summary paragraphs of his overview statements about each issue (not exactly, specifically, what he would do nor any detailed plans for how he would do it.

By contrast, I was impressed with Hillary Clinton's home website, where a full list of issues was highly specific both in cause and in detailed plans for execution. Specific issues, for example, (notably absent from Obama's) were a crucial program of credit reform and a detailed plan for nutrition improvement requirements for schools that receive federal funding along with a much needed expansion of pre-kindergarden care (with details of how it will be funded).

Reviewing Hillary Clinton's website info on her policy plans and means of executing many needed reforms (economy, energy, lending, the foreclosure crisis, education reform, etc.) not only excited my enthusiasm for the breadth and depth of her vision, it gave me a real education and inspiration on the improvements possible for us all if she becomes President.

All I have heard from Obama on so many vital issues is to see, in debates, that he takes notes when Hillary Clinton speaks and then, by and large, says he agrees with her. Certainly, a no-lose strategy if you're counting on voters to be too busy to become more fully informed. Makes one wonder, where does he really stand? And what is his actual capacity to fulfill his multiple (and oft contradictory) issue statements. As Einstein said "God is in the details" and genius is 10% inspiration with 90% perspiration.

Want to know more of the depth and consistency of these 2 candidates? Check out the facts for yourself. Obama's eloquent words not only don't appear grounded in the forethought for execution. His wonderful use of words shape shifts to suit any potential interest group where he appears.

READ THE SITE BEFORE YOU BLOG
By Eric Vessels Feb 28th 2008 at 11:58 am EST
Hi jm korbel,

First, the landing page is a common strategy for campaigns online. You are able to skip it and once you do you go to the main page. Easy enough, right? The Obama site has been widely acclaimed for it's ability to allow millions to become involved. In fact, over 1 million have "owned" a piece of the campaign and are now stakeholders in his campaign - probably very much attributed to the design of the site and landing page itself. Understand something about online organizing before you take cheap shots at a campaign website. If you were unable to skip that page you weren't looking very hard.

It's obvious you weren't looking very hard because you completely missed entire sections of his site on the issues. For example, the education section:

Sure the majority of the text contains overviews and summaries. People tend not to read entire policy positions and papers online. Who has the time? I'm a political junkie and I don't. But how did you miss the pdf files at the bottom? Did you read them? There are two:

The Pre-K to 12 Plan

The College Affordability Plan

They are both quite detailed in the 17 pages they take up. No easy way to do that online.

Hillary's "Improving Our Schools" page has no pdfs at all and the content is even more limited that what is on the Obama website.

Link

I know you have an agenda here and that's fine. The problem is it is a specious argument at best, irresponsible at worst. To suggest that "Hillary has plans" and Barack doesn't is just false. So stop.

This was just a cursory look see to counter your website attack and it's pretty clear what you are peddling. I know things don't look good for your candidate and supporters are becoming about as desperate as campaign staff, but this is pretty sad. Spend more time reading and less time blogging bullshit. We'll all be better off.

Hillary Clinton's campaign is based on an entity. Barack Obama's campaign is a movement. I'll take movement for $1,000 Alex. Thanks.

Sen. Clinton is in my Top 5 list of Most Admired Americans, but Sen. Obama is my #1 right now.

Not only is Obama an eloquent speaker, he's an excellent writer. I'm reading The Audacity of Hope and he's one of the most engaging political writers I've ever read. His depth of understanding of history and the Constitution and his abilities as a communicator are really remarkable. I have yet to find any issue I disagree with him on.

In some other time and place, I would love to have Hillary Clinton be my leader. But not now.
