Context

Just so everyone understands:

This photo was multiple times larger on HuffPo than it is here and it had NO TEXT with it except for the headline.

HOWEVER, apparently, all the individuals in the room are retired four star generals who broke ranks to work to close Gitmo and it's believed that this was to be a symbolic gesture on the president's part.

While I appreciate that context, the fact is, it almost highlights even more just how gender and race exclusive that level of power was in the military to white men only.

I'd like to see such images become obsolete in that there's no segment in society that can't be diverse in gender, race etc.

Likewise, as someone pointed out to me, there were more than just these 16 who pressed tirelessly for the closure. But they're not exactly represented either.

No weirder than all-male, non-physicians signing the partial birth abortion ban. At least in the military, men and women have the same opportunities in the lower rank jobs. I agree they could benefit from more female strategists. Thanks for posting, Jill.

It must be Senators because that is a mostly white (99%) mostly male club too.

White is actually a racial aberration

If all races were amalgamated, the skin would be a violet olive hue. If you want more of an explanation contact me on the side.

My first comment was going to be, "Don't ask, I won't tell." But that would not have been constructive.

Peace
