Post from Dave Harding's Blog:
"Joe The Plumber" Related To Charles Keating? Yes That Charles Keating!

Joe “the Plumber” Wurzelbacher related to Charles “the Crook” Keating. Oops

They thought they had a real live Joe Six-Pack who’s spurned Barack Obama’s tax plan. But what they forgot to do was check on Joe Wurzelbacher’s background.

Turns out that Joe Wurzelbacher from the Toledo event is a close relative of Robert Wurzelbacher of Milford, Ohio. Who’s Robert Wurzelbacher? Only Charles Keating’s son-in-law and the former senior vice president of American Continental, the parent company of the infamous Lincoln Savings and Loan.

The now retired elder Wurzelbacher is also a major contributor to Republican causes giving well over $10,000 in the last few years.

Update: Ben Smith of Politico Reports:

Two readers with access to the Ohio voter file say that Joe Wurzelbacher's inluence on this cycle will be limited in one way: He doesn't appear to be registered to vote.

Looks like Joe blows.........

Turns out this idiot is not a registered voter, and he appears a bit manic depressive. Did you get a really good look at him? I saw him this morning on Good Morning America when Diane Sawyer asked if he was a registered voter. He lied and told her yes. He also said his choice for president was a personal one. As if we did not have a clue as to who he would choose. That is if he was in fact a registered voter. That reminds me to ask, is Keating a registered voter? Criminals lose the right to vote. Oh well, is that maybe why old Drano Joe is not registered. It's kind of sad to see McCain's people playing little kiddie games. It makes me believe he never considered this campaign seriously in the first place. Thus the Sarah P. fiasco. By the way, what do you get when you add a 72 year old clueless hero wannabe, with a gun slinging ice queen governor of the coldest state in the USA? The answer? A HOT MESS! McCain deserves to lose. He's been a loser all along. And don't get me started on botox Barbie....aka Cindy!

Actually he is a registered voter in Ohio.

The Toledo Blade reported today that "Joe the Plumber's" name appears on Ohio voter registration rolls with a slight misspelling -- as Worzelbacher, not Wurzelbacher.

And that sort of data-entry error might be enough -- were Joe a new registrant -- to have him disqualified from voting in Ohio, Florida, or Wisconsin this year, depending on the outcome of ongoing litigation.

Purging voters or blocking their registration because of data errors is disenfranchisement by typo," said Michael Waldman, the executive director of the Brennan Center for Justice, a liberal legal group involved in litigation in those states. "Joe is a perfect example. If he were anew voter, he would be being challenged right now as not eligible to vote."

"Joe the Plumber is not committing voter fraud by having his name spelled differently on two different lists," he said.

Wouldn't it be great if we could choose when we want to use our correct proper name, and when not to?
We just need to get this whole election thing over with. Then maybe my co-workers can get back to business as usual, and stop walking around rolling their eyes at the Obama supporters. lol

Just the Facts, Ma'am

Forget the character attacks, however deserved or not. Let’s deal with the actual issue that was raised. Here’s a relevant excerpt from the conservative Wall Street Journal’s article of OCTOBER 17, 2008, 'As Joe the Plumber Grows Famous, the Politics Get Murkier':

"To reach a level that would be affected by Sen. Obama’s proposed tax increase, Mr. Smither said, a mom-and-pop plumbing company like Newell would have to clear $5 million in annual sales. [Joe’s company actually reports only $100,000 in sales.]

Even if Mr. Wurzelbacher reaped taxable income from his business of $280,000 a
year, he'd pay only about $900 more a year in taxes under Sen. Obama's plan, which
would raise the tax rate on the income between $250,000 and $280,000 to 36%
from 33%.

[...]

If Mr. Wurzelbacher earns the wages of a typical Ohio plumber, $40,600, and holds a $90,000 mortgage, he would see a TAX CUT (emphasis added) under Sen. Obama's plan of more than $1,000, compared with no tax reduction under Sen. McCain's.

If he succeeds in buying the plumbing business where he works, he could see even more tax benefits, including Sen. Obama's proposed elimination of capital-gains taxes for small-business investment, a 50% tax credit to purchase health insurance for employees and a $3,000 tax credit for every new hire over the next two years."

Other issues and ‘things we wish were true’ aside, better to acknowledge facts and deal with them objectively.
