It's not a good week to have had, as so many Americans do, your retirement savings in equities.
Watch It:
McCain recently told a crowd in Denver:
"Americans have got to understand that we are paying present-day retirees
with the taxes paid by young workers in America today.
And that's a disgrace. It's an absolute disgrace."
For millions of retired and disabled Americans, Social Security isn't a disgrace – it's their primary source of income. And Americans do understand the way it works, because it's the same way Social Security has worked for more than 70 years.
This isn't the first time John McCain has spoken out again Social Security. Back in March, McCain said that private savings accounts should be a part of Social Security reform. That privatization scheme is the very same failed Bush policy that the American people rejected in 2005.
When it comes to messing with Social Security, John McCain is as bad as President Bush – if not worse.
