Seems like the last time Ohio GOP Secret Emails came out we found out about their Voter Caging Strategy.

Ohio Republican Party: Vote Caging Is One Of Our Election Strategies

What's the strategy and message for today's partisan republican meeting of Republican Election Officials . Officials whose Election duties are to be totally non-partisan?

Why the secrecy?  Why no press allowed.  What's going on in that meeting that the ORP doesn't want anyone else to know?

Not Surprised

Im not surprised at the ORP for doing this, but it is somewhat surprising that people somehow think local BOE's are all that Non partisan in how they perform their work. Ive seen boards be highly partisan with Dems sometimes supporting R's. These postions can be filled by anyone who can get the support of the chair or otherwise get the votes at a central committee meeting. The Dems need to come out in support of what Jennifer is doing. She is trying to respond to the EVEREST report which documented the problems with the DRE's. Please read it and then we should organize in support of Jennifer.

Enforce the law
By Doug Jan 16th 2008 at 1:37 pm EST
It's my understanding that the Republican Party is under a judge's consent decree to stop all caging of voters. The U.S. prosecutors who were not fired by Bush/Rove/Gonzales is where the scandal is worst because supposed "law and order" conservatives are selectiveley applying the law.

Conservatives are rarely so honest as this 30 second clip from the Heritage Foundation and Moral Majority Founder:

OK! So caging is a way of unfairly dismissing blocks of voters you don't want to be counted...I get it, thanks.

question to Brunner Via radio show from Philly, Link

Ohio HB3 passed the republican legislature. This bill contained a provision that allows counties to cage votes. The republican party got caught and prosecuted for this years ago. From an article on this subject linked below:
"Litigation arising from voter caging and challenges will be discussed during the survey of state
challenge campaigns and in a detailed litigation section that follows. The Democratic National
Committee and state Democratic parties fought against illegal caging and challenge campaigns by
the GOP in state and federal courts. Two of the most important cases stemmed from GOP caging
efforts in New Jersey during the 1980’s and led to consent decrees that are still in effect. Under
the consent decrees, the RNC has agreed to restrictions to bring its activities into compliance
with the Constitution and federal law. As the RNC has pointed out in subsequent lawsuits, only
the RNC is bound by the decrees, not the state Republican parties."

How do you plan to address this in your plans to protect the voter?
