Gov. Ted Strickland signed the “Joe the Plumber” bill into law today.
Substitute House Bill 648 is aimed at cracking down on the kind of government snooping that happened after Samuel Joseph “Joe the Plumber” Wurzelbacher of suburban Toledo questioned Barack Obama’s tax policies and was thereafter featured by John McCain in a debate and in his Presidential campaign.
The bill, sponsored by Rep. Shannon Jones, R-Springboro, creates civil and criminal penalties for violating rules regarding access to personal information on state databases.
