ProgressOhio Announces "Progress Points"
We've had a very successful first 5 months! Thank you to all who have participated in our rapid growth from start-up in October through today!

Moving forward we want to accelerate our growth!

To that end, we're pleased to announce "Progress Points", our new system for rewarding you our constituents for participating together with us in achieving our goals to grow an even larger Progressive community here in Ohio.

Starting today every action you take within the ProgressOhio Community automatically accumulates points in your Progress Points account.

There are other ways to earn points including special points awards for special efforts on behalf of ProgressOhio . . . more on that later.

You can keep track of your points total within your "My Progress" page. It even displays your current rank and how many additional points you need to move up in the overall rankings.

We know that some of you (those who are "highly competitive" . . . and you know who you are) will "jump right in" and start taking action to grow your point totals. For others the right incentive might do the trick. What incentive should we offer for say the top point achiever in the month of February?

Some ideas that have been submitted are:

Bring a bag lunch with The Governor or other Political Official
Tickets (i.e. next time Jon Stewart is in town, Al Franken, etc.)
Fee waived to be sent to some conference (i.e. Wellstone or anything else that generally charges a fee)

Please leave your suggestions in the comments (ummmm . . . you'll earn 50 points each time you do!)

Some facts for the "Lawyers" out there:

ProgressPoints is not a contest and we may or may not offer incentives for achieving the highest point totals in a given period of time . . . We probably will, but we may not.

Any previous points achieved have been added to your account . . . there will be no further updating of previous points earned.

Eric Vessels (former Online Director) has had points removed to in effect "restart" his account, but now that he is independent he's definitely back in the game. He tells me moving back to the top will be a "slam dunk" for him.

I'm not in it by the fact that I have had so many points removed by Eric, I can never catch up.

We hope you enjoy Progress Points and that you will use them to help us grow our community interaction!

Also I just want to draw everyone's attention to the fact that you get 500 points for writing to an elected official.
And that, my friends, is what makes us much cooler than friendster.

Thanks for making it so easy

Dave - I just want to say that as someone who finds that templates often are so confusing that I just give up, I haven't found that yet with ProgressOhio and if I can figure it out, anyone can. Thanks and good luck.

I've just figured it out today. Of course, today was the first day I really dig around here.

Where's the live points board? I'll get some chips, just sit back, and watch.

Thanks for giving me that much more of a reason to never leave my computer. I'd like to go get something to eat right now but I won't let myself log off until I get a few hundred more points.
