We are a Nation of Gandhis on a planet where all people are one. It is not us and them. We cannot separate ourselves from others who suffer. Join us!

As Americans we pride ourselves in the the first revolution, the thing we now have strayed so far from that our current leaders have counter indicated its original prescription for humanity.

Maybe the theft of the Ohio Election was not something Marc Dann cared about anyway?

It's time to evolve.
Keith Olberman strikes again.

"Scheme to obtain unlawful pay raises and back pay. After the BOEE General Counsel received a pay raise (from $109,515 to 121,406) based on recently enacted legislation designed to ensure retention of practicing attorneys in the District government, legislation that would permit raises to the Director of OCF by removing the statutory cap was sought by OCF but not obtained.

Because the salary of the OCF Director is capped at the highest step of DS-16 ($109,515) of the District's excepted service schedule, attempts to process such a raise through normal channels would have been rejected by the Office of Personnel unless the cap were removed.

For this reason, the technical assistance of a computer security technician employed by the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) was enlisted to make the salary changes directly to the District's computerized payroll system. This change to the electronic payroll unlawfully effectuated the raise by circumventing the administrative safeguards that ensure that employees receive appropriate salaries."

The fact that The FBI has never investigated any election fraud in Ohio or anywhere else points to selective prosecution.

Special Counsel shut down probe of Siegelman case last year

5/7/2008, 6:50 p.m. CDT
By BEN EVANS
The Associated Press

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The U.S. Office of Special Counsel last year shut down a previously undisclosed investigation into the federal prosecution of former Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman, according to an internal memo made public Wednesday.

The investigation was being conducted by a task force formed at the agency a year ago to pursue high-profile political investigations in Washington, most notably whether the White House played politics in firing U.S. attorneys. It began gathering information on the Siegelman case in September and was planning to request documents from the Justice Department in October before Special Counsel Scott Bloch ordered the case closed, according to the Jan. 18 draft memo, made public by the Project on Government Oversight, a watchdog group.

The investigation was one of many that the task force had taken up, and the memo shows that Bloch frequently differed with investigators about which cases to pursue.

I loved Brian Williams Coverage of the quake in Illinois, very thorough, but the Democratic debate on ABC, not so much.

There was the Question posed by Air America Radio (AAR) that the Republicans have a debate on their network but they were turned down.

Should the Democrats treat ABC the same way?

How could the Democrats deny the national exposure? It is sorta like being entrapped by the conservative "police" you can say. Damned if you do and damned if you don't.

Well that speaks volumes about the behemouth, ABC. Should we look at them like the "childish" AAR.

What about AAR's earthquake coverage.... well maybe someday.
And Dennis Kucinich? He is an earthquake to the national debate that NBC shut out.

Let's summarize.

We need to stand up for peace and withdrawal our military financial support because America needs to save itself. We are hurting badly and it is hurting the rest of the world.

We have become a military socialist nation. So many live a military lifestyle and buy that party line so they and their families can survive. What a pity.

Ham Operators Came out in Droves, Waiting To Serve More Than You Know.

It's the first test of the severe weather alert in Ohio and they came out in droves on the ham radio to show their support for their community. There were people amswering to the requests of a female operator coordinating many for over a half hour.

There were firefighters, police officers, EMA coordinators and of course just the average Joe doing their bit in case there was a real emergency.

I am proud of my fellow americans and how they showed that they were ready and willing to give a hand when needed. We are not alone. We are ham operators. It is the ultimate in free chat.

When the Russian czarina toured war-ravaged Crimea in 1787, she viewed hundreds of hollow buildings and false fronts, populated by jovial village actors. Her minister, Grigori Potemkin, had engineered the grand theatrical production to boost his own political career. Hence the term Potemkin village - the mock display of a boomtown that is really bust.

Politicians now tour the ravaged lower Scioto Valley, to perennially announce grand new atomic projects, guaranteed to bring many thousands of new jobs.

In 2004, it was USEC's American Centrifuge Plant, stewarded by a company acknowledged to have run a technology scam once before, in the hollow shell of a project that had failed in the 1980s.

Mayor Coleman proposed a new system of cameras to watch the populace of Columbus. What does this show?

Have we failed as a society that we have to relegate our responsibility to our fellow citizen to a machine?

This is not good public policy in that we must plant the seeds to a future society where:
1. each individual is not thrown to isolation
2. where they lose perspective as to their place in our society that causes them to commit crimes of frustration and causes harm to all of us because our lack of attention.

Prevention is the best medicine.

It is better to spend this money on community support for all citizens and understanding the way to a new paradigm of social support that could set the stage for progressive community government into the next millennium.

This is generally apparent in eastern societies to some extent but even there, it needs further development and refinement.

Let's look at society as being us, we need to be healed, we need not to get bombed, we need others to bring US out of isolation.

On Friday, the White House issued a new executive order effectively gutting the Intelligence Oversight Board (IOB), “created in 1976 in the wake of widespread abuses by U.S. intelligence agencies.” Under the order, many of the IOB’s investigative powers will now be transfered to DNI Mike McConnell. “Rather than intelligence agencies reporting their activities to the board for review, they will now report them to McConnell,” the AP notes. Ohio is poised to do its thing as the ultimate swing state. On March 4 it may, along with Texas, choose the Democratic presidential nominee.

Tragically, the candidates will campaign in a state whose economic future has been nuked.

Once a great industrial heartland, Ohio's rust belt status has been solidified by billions in excess electric rates driven by four nuclear reactors, and by the state government's inability to make way for a green-powered future.

On Friday, February 22, a powerful group of international steel investors announced they were pulling Ohio out of the running for a new high-tech production plant. Some 500 jobs will now go elsewhere. The investors blamed unstable power prices. "If you had to rank from clarity on the utility situation, Ohio would not rank very high," said one.

The state suffers some of the nation's highest and most unpredictable electric costs for four simple reasons: the Davis-Besse, Perry, Zimmer and Beaver Valley 2 nuclear plants.

Davis-Besse, near Toledo, is world-famous for a leak of boric acid that ate through a six-inch stainless steel reactor pressure vessel, bringing northern Ohio to the brink of a Chernobyl-scale catastrophe. Perry, east of Cleveland, suffered billions in construction cost over-runs, and is the only US nuke to have been damaged by an earthquake. Zimmer, on the Ohio River, was allegedly more than 95% complete when massive design and construction flaws forced its hugely expensive 1980s conversion to coal. Beaver Valley 2, near Pittsburgh, has run up even more in overages.   Read More »

It’s too weak on climate…. It’s too strong on nuclear…. STOP THE LIEBERMAN/WARNER CLIMATE CHANGE BILL!

An aide to Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT) says the Lieberman/Warner climate change bill (S. 2191) “would be the most historic incentive for nuclear in the history of the United States.” (E&E Daily, February 8, 2008).

He’s not kidding: the bill’s complicated “cap-and-trade” carbon system could give billions of dollars—perhaps $500 Billion (no, that’s not a typo--$500 Billion)--to “zero or low-carbon” energy technologies, including dirty energy like nuclear power.

According the some Ohio Election officials in our Boards of Elections, Secretary Brunner is upsetting the apple cart of business as usual in our Boards of Elections. Good.

As I recently recall 56 of the 88 counties defied a federal court order to preserve 2004 election records, blatently defying Secretary Brunner's request for the records and Judge Algenon Marbley's federal court order.

This situation seems contrary to what some elections officials assert and only makes me suspicious that they may have even more to hide.

Brunner is not to blame for shaking the voter's confidence. I feel the blame can be squarely laid at the feet of her predecessor J. Kenneth Blackwell and some of the very officials who are crying foul.

So, the Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner wants to put an optical scan system into place for the November election:

Will Ohio overhaul its voting systems?
For the Nov. 4 presidential election, Brunner wants to scrap $81.7 million in electronic touch-screen voting machines and spend $31 million for a new system that uses paper ballots tabulated on optical scan equipment.

Brunner’s plan would fundamentally change how most Ohioans vote, including greatly expanding absentee voting.

She’s set a deadline. With the November election looming, she wants the legislature and Strickland to come up with the money and make other changes by mid-April.

Being the creative geek that I am, I’m wondering if we can’t use an optical scan system already in place, owned by the state, with more locations than we have bingo halls- are you ready for another big idea?

The lottery terminals are an optical scan card reading system- and are all over the state. Maybe we use our tested (and apparently trusted- since people wage millions using it each week) gambling system to record our votes in our political gambling system? Can’t give any worse results than the last few elections can it?

Ohio retailers would love the extra traffic, and maybe, we just for fun, throw in a cool reward system for voting at the same time- one lucky voter per congressional district  becomes an instant million dollar winner, just like our current congress. Place a bet, we’d have better turnout.

I remember how fair and professional the republicans were in 2004....and the intimidation from Blackwell's office and the likes of Bennett was non-existent????  You think we forgot your reign of terror? How dare you.

Read this and listen to Bennett no more!!!!  http://fraudbusterbob.com/blog/2007/04/16/bye-bye-to-cleveland-gop-election-chair-bob-ballots-for-bush-bennett/

From this above link: "In Brunner’s formal complaint against Bennett she cited the fact that Bennett’s BOE did nothing when an estimated 10,000 voters were thrown off the voting roll by a Diebold voter registration computer glitch."

Byte it Bob Bennett. See his reply below to strength and honest direction from Brunner. Bob Bennet's tenure as Director of Cuyahoga BOE and head of Republican Party showed no respect for anyone in OUR democracy.

Who are you kidding Bob? Maybe you need to go join your Buddy in San Diego, Michael Vu, cause you are a bad stain on the state of Ohio.

How convenient. Some Glitch like Cheney losing his records and emails. How long can we live with these fascist tactics? If Brunner and others in positions of responsibility don't deal justly with such tactics then OUR government IS run by FASCISTS. Fear this!

Kilowatt Ours Reveals the Consequences of Our Coal Powered Economy.

The film opens with Vice President Dick Cheney’s energy policy speech
in which Cheney makes the claim that America needs nearly 1900 new
power plants in the next 20 years to meet projected electricity
demands.

From here, filmmaker Jeff Barrie takes viewers on a journey from the
coal mines of West Virginia to the solar panel fields of Florida, as he
discovers solutions to America’s energy.

Again, another great interview with Grace Lee Boggs. (For the full interview see http://www.democracynow.org/2008/1/22/ive_never_had_this_much_hope)

I noticed on the DemocracyNow/Google site that she had been inteviewed several times by Amy.

Grace was also featured by Bill Moyers Journal.

Ms. Boggs of oriental, descent, married an Afro-american activist and was involved in the civil rights movement early on.

Grace was an amazing woman who inspires from amazing times. Though she was not close to Dr. King, she did know Malcom X and was quiet torn on the path to civil justice on whether violence was an answer. She had learned well from Dr. King because already, so much violence existed and obviously solved nothing.

There are many who have experienced a great deal in the "progressive" movement in the past that we can learn from.

Another is Bill Mandel, another unsung hero.
