He may not be running yet but you know you want him to.

Taegan Goddard's Political Wire:

"Friends of Al Gore have secretly started assembling a campaign team in preparation for the former American vice-president to make a fresh bid for the White House," reports the Sunday Telegraph.

"Aware that he may step into the wide open race for the White House, former strategists are sounding out a shadow team that could run his campaign at short notice. In approaching former campaign staff, including political strategists and communications officials, they are making clear they are not acting on formal instructions from Mr. Gore, 59, but have not been asked to stop."

Former Vice President Al Gore has accepted an invitation to testify next month in a congressional hearing on the highly controversial issue of climate change.

Gore's film, "An Inconvenient Truth," which focused on global warming, received two Oscar nominations this week, one for best documentary feature. For people who make a parlor game of guessing Gore's intentions for 2008, the appearance will surely stoke speculation that he may yet be a late entrant into the Democratic presidential derby.

Gore will appear at a joint hearing on Wednesday, March 21. He will be the only witness to appear before the Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Energy and Air Quality and the Science and Technology Subcommittee on Energy and Environment. Gore served on both committees during his House tenure representing a Tennessee district.

Al Gore has accepted an invitation to address a joint hearing on global warming by the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Energy and Air Quality and the Science and Technology Subcommittee on Energy and Environment, both of which Gore is a former member of.

Al has become the spokesperson for global warming after his recent documentary "An Inconvenient Truth" popularized the topic. Gore's film has been nominated for two Oscars and Al himself was recently nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. It was also recently announced that every secondary school in the United Kingdom will recieve a copy of "An Inconvenient Truth" from the British government.
