PETITION:"Gasoline price gouging should be made a federal crime before the summer price increases hurt more American families."

CONTRARY TO STATED BELOW, GAS IS ALREADY UP TO $4.50 + !!! HOW DO NON-"WEALTHY" PEOPLE AFFORD TO GO TO WORK OR IMPORANT APPOINMENTS?!? WHERE HAS AMERICAN MORALITY & ETHICS GONE..... [HIDING "UNDER A" BUSH ADMINISTRATION?!?]

As of yesterday, gas prices are the highest in U.S. history—we just passed the 1981 record, even adjusted for inflation.1 Prices could reach $4.00 per gallon in parts of the country, just in time to crimp summer vacation plans. As consumers suffer, the oil industry continues to reap the windfall—breaking profit records on an almost quarterly basis. It's outrageous!

Enough is enough. Hearings start today on H.R. 1252, a House bill that would make gas price gouging a federal crime, punishable by 10 years in prison. Speaker Pelosi has said she'll move the bill to a vote this week—if there's the two-thirds majority required to fast track the bill through the process.2

Oil company lobbyists are frantically trying to stop the bill. Your representative needs to hear from you today. Will you sign our petition asking Congress to pass the price-gouging bill—and then send it to your friends?

"Gasoline price gouging should be made a federal crime before the summer price increases hurt more American families."
Sign the petition:
Link

WHY WE MUST IMPEACH ASAP

Each day WE allow President Bush and his administration to remain in office is the more We The People and Congress appear to condone:
Growing disrespect for the United States - from within and from without; multitudes of deaths, tortures, disabilities - to our own people and others; crimes against all humanity; loss of patriotism in truth (and LIFE) for our troops; NO compassion for our own needy citizens, veterans, and others around the globe; crimes against our very globe; and, so much more!

AI-6th Season's America Gives Back & Us

Fifty years ago today, at age 7, I was getting settled in our new missionary community near a hospital in West Africa. Over the the next 2 1/2 years I had free-run of the hospital and spent extensive time rocking orphaned babies in the maternity ward, and, playing with the children at the small orphanage across the road. I saw the deepest poverty. We visited 20 countries around the globe, but the wonderful Africans have remained with me in my soul. Now, living in Ohio's Appalachian region of rampant poverty, my heart cries for the families here, too. Tonight we watched the American Idol "America Gives Back" special, I cried many tears of sadness, yet tears of happiness when seeing those wonderful sweet African faces again. Therefore, I am asking not a personal favor, but a favor for the future of our world, when I plea:Won't you, PLEASE, donate to this wonderful compassionate endeavor? Simply contact American Idol. THANK YOU!!!Peace,Kathleen AKUA ~The Angel Power Emporium~

Government Destroying Lives of Veterans

Regulation 635-200, Chapter 5-13: "Separation Because of Personality Disorder."Obtained via The Nation magazine:Jon Town has spent the last few years fighting two battles, one against his body, the other against the US Army. Both began in October 2004 in Ramadi, Iraq. He was standing in the doorway of his battalion's headquarters when a 107-millimeter rocket struck two feet above his head. The impact punched a piano-sized hole in the concrete facade, sparked a huge fireball and tossed the 25-year-old Army specialist to the floor, where he lay blacked out among the rubble.

"The next thing I remember is waking up on the ground." Men from his unit had gathered around his body and were screaming his name. "They started shaking me. But I was numb all over," he says. "And it's weird because... Because for a few minutes you feel like you're not really there. I could see them, but I couldn't hear them. I couldn't hear anything. I started shaking because I thought I was dead."

Eventually the rocket shrapnel was removed from Town's neck and his ears stopped leaking blood. But his hearing never really recovered, and in many ways, neither has his life. A soldier honored twelve times during his seven years in uniform, Town has spent the last three struggling with deafness, memory failure and depression. By September 2006 he and the Army agreed he was no longer combat-ready.

Read the full story at The Nation

POVERTY and SCHOOLS

It has always bothered me how many schools make rules without keeping low-income families in mind! Some government funding is based on how many students are in school on just one particular day a year -- how ridiculous! Funds might be gained with academic achievements, yet held back for other (really quite senseless) reasons!

Automobile Sweepstakes and Commercials

Automobile Sweepstakes and Commercials
Hey, I would appreciate us having anew hybrid car/truck (The most green-made brand), but we live the real America, so don't see it happening!!! Please consider my thoughts. We live in an area of the state with poverty-rates, so little gainful employment nearby, the villages and churches don't have enough funds to manage themselves, and, the roads are not just curved & hilly, they're mostly crumbled, bumpy, muddy, gravelly.

Ours autos used and cost between $50 to $5,000. They speedily become unreliable transportation which soaks up money and extra hours. NO one can guarantee how long each may last! I've seen them run between 1/10th a mile to as long as 5 years (if very lucky).
