John McCain, despite the fog of his apparent dotage, somehow got the memo mid-summer that the country was fed up to the gills with Republican shenanigans, and so he and his advisory band of GOP lobbyists and party hacks, in a desperate effort to continue Republican shenanigans, zeroed in on a candidate for vice president who could serve the campaign, after a little tweaking, as their own female (maybe the Hillary's will buy it) version of Joseph Goebbels. They found her all right. She'd just been waiting in the frozen north for her big moment. God said so. He said, "Sarah Palin." Read More »
The actions and over-reactions of all three branches of government since 9/11 have left the nation deeply in debt; involved us in not one but two doubtfully winnable guerrilla wars (in which we must pay off the locals with borrowed tax dollars to make the claim "the surge worked"); and left our nation's citizens to fend for themselves against predatory lending practices, a failed housing and mortgage market, exorbitant healthcare costs or no healthcare at all, a lack of living-wage opportunities, empty municipal coffers, off-the-charts fuel prices, and an infrastructure that crumbles before their eyes. I have been stumping here for Edwards because I believe we need real progress in America, and I don't see evidence of that happening with any Democratic candidate except possibly Kucinich or John Edwards. I am putting my money on Edwards as the man who has the best chance to come from behind and bring America back to greatness from the brink of disaster. Hear him speak in Iowa here:
MSNBC today reports that Hillary Clinton is receiving a large portion of her campaign financing from traditional healthcare industries. It leaves one to wonder just what her version of healthcare would look like were she to win the presidency in '08. That is why I am supporting John Edwards for president.
As I continue to research his ideas on the issue of affordable healthcare for all, I am increasingly convinced that he is the candidate who will bring the most progress to America on a number of issues including healthcare. You can read his healthcare plan for yourself at:
From the Edwards Campaign:
Tonight, after President Bush makes yet another argument for continuing the war in Iraq, John Edwards will speak directly to the American people in a nationwide address on MSNBC. Our campaign has bought airtime on MSNBC immediately following the President's address at 9 p.m., and John Edwards will challenge the President's remarks with a strong call to the nation to end the war now.
Please watch in that timeframe and e-mail your friends asking them to watch as well. Each of us has a responsibility to make sure that President Bush and Congress understand that the time for excuses has run out.
John Edwards will deliver a strong message tonight on our behalf. It's time to end this war and bring our troops home. Buying this kind of airtime is expensive. But we believe that President Bush's address must be countered with a strong voice in opposition to the failed policies that have kept our troops in harm's way for far too long.
Tonight, John Edwards will continue to lead, and make the case to the nation that we cannot wait for an election to change course in Iraq—we as citizens must make Washington understand that the time to end this war is now.
Don't miss John's address tonight on MSNBC, immediately following the President. President Bush will be on every network for free tonight. Our campaign will have to pay for the time on MSNBC so that John Edwards can challenge the President's failed policies.
Yesterday during Senate hearings, General Petraeus, in answer to a direct question by Sen. John Warner, was unable to tell America that she is safer despite all the American blood and treasure sent to Iraq over the past four and a half years. After billions of dollars spent that were needed here to shore up our own infrastructure! After mothers and fathers have sacrificed their children's lives in service to an America they trusted?!
As an American with a loved one serving in Iraq on yet one more extended tour of duty, I want a quick end to Bush's foreign policy folly in Iraq. I want an end to this error. I'm tired of the talk. I'm weary of the staus quo. I am sickened by the rhetoric. And I have found someone to be my presidential candidate that feels as I do about the issues, ending the war in Iraq, and making real American progress in America. John Edwards.
I'm a teacher so I don't work for the Edwards campaign. But I am urging you to check him out for yourself as I did. I don't think Edwards is getting the buzz he deserves. He actually has ideas to make America better. Imagine that!
If Liberty is a well-armed lamb, what it is not is an ignorant one, and ignorance appears to have slid quietly and unbelievably seamlessly into the fabric of our electoral system thanks mostly to the consolidation of media outlets among just seven corporations--the optimum word here being "corporations."
As the '08 presidential election staggers forward, off to such an early start that it is already clear which candidates are the media darlings and which are the oft ignored, thinking men and women should be insulted that a viable candidate such as John Edwards does not receive the national attention he has earned and continues earning, It stands to reason that the candidates the corporations want you to choose from are probably going to be a better president for the corporations than they are for you.
John Edwards has clearly spent more time thinking about progressive solutions to the issues we face in the 21st century than either of the two Democratic candidates that are getting all the press. Progressives, in order to truly bring about progress, need to take a very close look at John Edwards for president. His campaign can be found on the internet at http://johnedwards.com/.
