Ramblings from an Ohio, Vietnam War Navy veteran
It's September 2007, and the Hoover Company, headquartered in North Canton, Ohio, is mostly kaput! What has that bastion of truth (excuse me while I get seriously sick just thinking about them) Canton Repository told the public about the downfall of the Hoover Company? ANSWER: NOT EVEN HALF THE REAL STORY!!!
Consider the following:
1. There is strong evidence that the Hoover Foundation has been used to embezzle millions upon millions of charitable dollars. How did that happen and who did it? Don't ask the REP! Former REP big shot Mike Hanke told me on the phone (and I have the recording), "We don't have to investigate anything!" AND, he shouted that at me over and over. I was asking him specifically about the rumors of embezzlement with Hoover money at the Buckeye Council, Boy Scouts of America, headquartered in Canton.
2. FACT: Herb Hoover sued Larry Hoover in the late 1980's in Stark County Common Pleas Court to take control of the Hoover Foundation away from Larry. The trial was abruptly stopped in 1990 and a deal was cut: Herb got one-fourth of the money that was left in the Foundation and went back to Florida to try to save the Everglades. The "ever vigilant" Repository ran a tiny article about the trial and it was buried in the back of the paper. Fascinating! Why tell the public what was really happening with the Hoover family when the REP modus operandi is to cover-up for the richest families in Stark County. They have been doing it since DAY ONE. Remember, it wasn't the Repository exposing the corruption in Canton in the 1920's, it was DON MELLETT and the rival Canton Daily News! AND, you see what happened to DON MELLETT for his honesty and journalistic integrity! DEAD! MURDERED! Then, the REP buys the Canton Daily News and SHUTS IT DOWN! Now, who would have guessed that would happen???
3. Larry Hoover made the decision to sell the Hoover Company, not "the Board", as the REP has claimed.
4. When the Hoover Company was sold to out-of-state interests in 1985 (Chicago Pacific), it was the beginning of the end for the company. It's been all downhill since that year.
5. Just about the first thing done by the new owners was to shut down the most modern and efficient Hoover plant, the Industrial Park plant near I77. NOW, everyone in Stark County should be asking this question: "How in the world did the Stark Regional Planning Commission and North Canton officials allow the most valuable industrial building in the county to become a TAX-EXEMPT church that will (1) take the land and building off the property tax rolls and (2) make it impossible to bring a for-profit company into the plant to create jobs and tax revenue for Stark County. I have friends who formerly worked in that plant and they told me that the equipment in that plant was extremely valuable for any manufacturing operation.
6. It was obvious that the new owners didn't care about (1) Ohio (2) Stark County or (3) North Canton: a Hoover plant was built in Mexico. I have talked to former Hoover management employees who said that the plant was a mess. The only reliable workers were women. Men got enough money for a bottle of tequila and disappeared. Next to NO Mexican workers were going to buy a Hoover sweeper due to the fact that their homes had DIRT FLOORS! AND, the quality of the products couldn't touch the high quality work done in Stark County. NOTE: I'm not making any judgment about the quality of work done by the Mexicans in that plant. I am simply relating what former Hoover employees told me. They were in a position to know.
So, I could go on for a very long time about this subject, but you get the idea. The REP is more like the old PRAVDA, in that you might get some truth, but the real story will NEVER be printed. According to an investigator I spoke with in the 1990's, many Stark County 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organizations were used to embezzle Hoover Foundation money. Did you read about that in the REP? Former REP employee Mike Hanke sat on the Board of one of the organizations that the investigator claimed was used to embezzle the money. Does Mike Hanke know anything about this? Maybe someone should ask him.

Ever notice how a lot of Americans seem to miss a lot of things? PERFECT EXAMPLE: Daddy Bush! Why is it that so many Americans are failing to point the finger at the real source of the G.W. problem? IT'S DADDY!!!
DADDY:
1. Got Junior into Yale because other Bushes had been there (legacy.)
2. Got Junior through Yale by donating tons of money. Junior should have flunked-out with his terrible grades (Cheney did!), but Daddy made sure that Junior got "Gentleman's C's" -- actually Junior got a lot of D's, too---but should have been F's.
3. Got Junior into the Texas Air National Guard after Junior scored an abysmal 25 out of 100 on the Pilot Aptitude Test in 1968. Daddy made a call to Lt. Gov. Ben Barnes and Junior's name went from the bottom of the list to #1. SO, Junior got to party his ass off in Houston and Birmingham while 10's of 1,000's of our troops DIED in Vietnam. Junior NEVER attended even one drill at Dannelly AFB in Birmingham, but HE DID go to the base dentist!
4. Got Junior into the OIL BUSINESS, thanks to lots of Saudi money, ESPECIALLY FROM THE BinLADEN family! Think Junior's ARBUSTO Oil Company. Harken and Spectrum 7, too.
5. Got Junior into the Texas White House with Karl Rove's vicious attacks on any oppenents, Democratic or Republican.
6. Got Junior into the D.C. White House by RIGGING the 2000 vote in Florida (many "thanks" to Jeb, Kathryn Harris and Clayton Roberts----using that phony felons list to turn away over 50,000 mostly Democratic Black voters. Junior's "official" margin of "victory" was 537 votes! Let's not forget Karl Rove's vicious attacks on opponents, Democratic and Republican (think John McCain!)
AND, this is just the short list of the stuff Daddy has done!
SO, FRIENDS, LET US TAKE A MOMENT FROM OUR BUSY DAY AND REMEMBER THE SOURCE OF OUR G.W. PROBLEM----DADDY!
