Speaker John Boehner and Congressional Republicans are holding the middle class tax cuts hostage in order to give the richest 2 percent a tax cut they didn't ask for and we can't afford.
Although everyone agrees that the middle class tax cuts should be extended for 98% of Americans, Republicans refuse to let the tax rates go up on the richest among us.
On average, extending the tax cuts for the middle class would give an additional $2,000 to the average middle class family. This extra $2.000 helps families buy put food on the tables, pay their bills, and help send their children to college. I
t is vital that Republicans stop holding these tax cuts hostage.
Republicans are pushing devastating cuts to Medicaid and Medicare as their solution to the fiscal cliff. The average Ohioan receives an annual benefit of $10,410 for Medicare and $6,446 for Medicaid. Nearly 1.9 million Ohioans get their health care coverage from Medicare and nearly 2.2 million get their healthcare coverage from Medicaid, including over a combined 1.2 million children and seniors.
Don't let the well-being of millions of our nation's children, seniors and those most vulnerable be undermined for the sake of continuing tax breaks for the 2% of Americans.
Take action today by calling Congress at: 1-(888)-344-0683 and demand Congress focus on jobs, not cuts.
