Who knew that politics in Ohio came down to who controlled the crayon box. Yep, it's true.
It isn't really complicated. Voting YES on Issue 2 takes the Crayola box from politicians by moving the power to draw legislative districts from them to us, the citizens.
It is no more complicated than when Mom told you to share the crayons with your friends.
You see when politicians get to draw districts to make their re-election easier the process gets perverted. That's why we put together the map below, so you can find out why Ohio's districts have their odd shapes.
- You can hear a 16-year legislative veteran brag that redistricting is the most fun a politician can have and NOT go to prison. The 'prison' reference shows he knows the map-making shenanigans are wrong -- but legal.
- The 16th district gives a first-hand account of how politicians move quickly to help donors -- but not voters.
- You can see counties, cities and even neighborhoods sliced and diced for pure political reasons.
A YES vote on Issue 2 will improve accountability, end rigged elections and put the people in charge.
When elections are fair, the people win.
It's really not so complicated. It's time to share the crayon box with us.
