Brian Rothenberg, Executive Director of ProgressOhio, released the following statement in response to today's court ruling regarding JobsOhio:
"This is the latest in a series of dangerous precedents where Ohio Courts opt not to rule on important constitutional issues, but hide behind issues of standing. Earlier this month, the conservative Ohio Roundtable also ran into this disturbing trend in a lawsuit regarding the Ohio Lottery Commission.
The good news is that many of the Constitutional provisions we previously filed -- in fact all but one -- have been overturned by the courts or altered by the state of Ohio. We feel confident we made the right decision in pursuing this matter.
The fact remains that no Court has ruled on the issue of whether JobsOhio is in fact constitutional. It is a dangerous precedent when issues regarding constitutionality are not addressed."
