Join Ted Strickland And Thousands Of Working Class Ohioans At The Ohio Statehouse This Tuesday, February 22 At 1pm!

This week was historic for working families in Ohio.  Thousands of workers and community members filled the Statehouse to show their opposition to Senate Bill 5 and Gov. Kasich and his political allies' broader assault on working families.

But that was only the beginning.  On Tuesday at 1PM, thousands of workers and community members will pack the Statehouse again to tell lawmakers to reject the attack on Ohio's middle class and vote NO on Senate Bill 5, a bill that would gut workers' voice on the job in the hopes of dismantling unions in Ohio entirely.

This assault on nurses, teachers, firefighters, police officers, sanitation workers and other public service workers is only the start of a broader partisan agenda to hurt working families and destroy the labor movement in Ohio.

Below is a letter from former Gov. Ted Strickland encouraging you to join us:

Strickland_NoSB5_180.jpgNow is the time. If ever there was a time to show up, stand up and let our voices be heard, it is now. The fate of Ohio's middle class is on the line at the Ohio Statehouse.

This coming Tuesday, February 22, the legislature is scheduled to move on Senate Bill 5, a bill that would strip away collective bargaining rights, hurt the middle class, kill jobs and destroy communities. I want to invite you to come to the Statehouse in Columbus on Tuesday to voice your opposition to this bill.

So far, thousands and thousands of Ohioans just like you have crowded the Statehouse because the livelihoods of Ohio's families are on the line. I was so inspired by these crowds that I decided to join them this past Thursday. There's just too much at stake to let Governor Kasich and the legislature roll back the clock on progress for Ohio's middle class.

The men and women who are under attack in our Statehouse are not enemies of the state; they are servants of the people. We must all stand together because this fight isn't just about police, firefighters, teachers and other public employees. It's about all of us. It's about whether or not we will be a state that stands up for the middle class. It's about stopping the dangerous agenda of those who would deprive regular Ohioans of the opportunity to provide a good life for their families.

Your presence will send a strong message and help our efforts to defeat Senate Bill 5 and the rest of our opponents' anti-middle class agenda.

In solidarity,

Ted
